TOUR from KOTOR to NJEGUSI – CETINJE and BUDVA

16It’s a country where East and West meets and tradition and modernization perfectly blend together. You will start the day with a spectacular drive along the Mount Lovcen Pass giving you the most stunning views over the most beautiful bay in the Mediterranean.

The road continues to Njegusi mountain village where you can sample some tasty local delicacies. In Cetinje, the historical and cultural capital of Montenegro, you will visit King Nikola’s Palace. Later you head for the sunny Budvian Riviera for a visit of Budva, the oldest city along the Montenegrin coastline.

It’s a great place to experience the real Mediterranean atmosphere. On the way back to Kotor you will have the opportunity to shoot some great pictures of the distant island of Sveti Stefan.

CETINJE

The road from Kotor to Cetnje, once the smallest capitl in Europe, has many hairpin turns as it passes through the Lovcen National Park and reaches 3,300 ft above sea level, with great views across the Bay of Kotor.Cetinje, founded in 1482, was soon the cpital of a free Balkan state and then capital of an independent Montenegro from 1878 until 1918, when Montenegro became part of Yugoslavia..

In 1946 Cetinje was succeeded as capital of Montenegro by Titograd (now Podgorica), although Cetinje remains as the country’S cultural centre.King Nicholas the last king of Montenegro (1860-1918) AND HIS FAMILY ARE BURIED IN THE CHAPEL OF CIPUR, AND HIS PALACE IS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC.
